To have skills that allow you to use your knowledge is called coping skills. There are three coping skill tools for the family to use in dealing with all areas of their lives.

Determine Your Solution

 

Five (5) Questions as Guidelines: 

I.    Define the Issue?

II.  How does the issue impact the family?

III. What steps can the family take to prepare and respond to this issue?

IV.  Who can help and assist the family in their response?

V.   What should the family expect as their outcome?

 

 

Use the criteria for each " Question Guideline":

 

I. Define the Issue?

  Clearly State what happened, or will happen

  Identify who is involved, or should be involved

  What would you like to have happened, or like to see happen

 

II. How does the issue impact the family?

  Who in the family was impacted

  In what way were they impacted

  What is needed to move forward

 

III. What steps can the family take to prepare and respond to this issue?

  What needs to be done, prioritize the list.

  Who needs to be involved

  What will it look like when completed

 

IV. Who can help and assist the family in their response?

  How to search for an organization to help

  What to ask from them

  What to expect

 

V. What should the family expect as their outcome?

  Timeline

  Cost, financial and emotional

  Required changes for a successful response to this issue
